SOUTHERN COUNTIES Canine Association
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

1st June 2003
ROUGH COLLIES

A show that I greatly enjoyed judging, the quality of the exhibits was generally of a high standard, with quite a few who will achieve Ch Status as time passes. When judging, my first requisite, is to see an animal of great beauty and dignity, and in my view this can only be achieved by having length in head, neck and body, and not the cloddy type which have appeared to take over in recent times.
I was delighted with my line up for the CCs especially in bitches, where I would be proud to take home so many of them. A special word of thanks to my two stewards who were an absolute delight to work with.

DOGS

MPD 1. Waterhouses Lynmead Simply in my Soul. 6mnths baby shows a lot of promise, obviously needs time to develop in head, but he has a good clean stop, nice forface v.g. Well placed ears, which he showed to advantage, good reach of neck, well bodied, and good rear angulation & moved quite well, I would just like to see his expression a little sweeter, will be heard of again.

PD (3) 1. Evens Carristina Golden Coronet Very nice type, Golden sable lovely head, eye & expression, correct stop, beautiful overall outline, well balanced body and bend of stifle, well placed ears which he showed when he settled, moved with some purpose, although he needs to tighten up a little, I hope he grows on with maturity. BP.
2. House's Lassina Le Fils Dore Well grown masculine puppy, good outline moved with freedom and showed his head off, very well presented, today lost out to 1 on head qualities, needs to clean out in stop, as this detracted somewhat from his expression.
3. Allens Hanvale Hot Tip

JD 8 (1) 1. Pink & Janes Norfranton Valentines Day Quality sable of fifteen months, whom I liked for his overall balance, very nice head with correct stop, beautiful dark correctly shaped eye, giving a very appealing expression, flat skull well placed ears which he used to advantage, good body and well bent stifle, moved out well with correct tail carriage, I would just like to see a little more of him throughout, however he is a very nice dog who's presentation was immaculate, it will be interesting to see how he will mature.
2. Hill's Brihow Thanks a Million from Buebezi Glamorous Masculine Golden sable, lovely for type had most of the qualities in head and expression, for which I was looking, length of body & ample bone not quite in full coat, but certainly one with a future.
3. Scotts Colousco Camouflage.

ND 1. Colousco Camouflage. Moved up from previous class, nice overall type, good head qualities, nice neck and body, moved quite well, today he was reluctant to use himself and show to advantage.

GD 7 (1) 1. Bedfords Sachenda Stand & Deliver Top quality sable with all the attributes to take him further as he matures, excellent head well filled forface, correctly placed stop, flat skull, beautiful well placed dark eye giving the desired expression, he has good size & substance and moves as one would expect from his construction, just a little reluctant to use his ears at times, but his many virtues far outweighed this, presentation excellent Res CC.
2, Miller & Lancaster's Pellismer Latest Dreams JW. Very nice 2yr old who has great appeal, his presentation was top class, liked his head type & expression, good in body & coat, moved with ease, pleasing young dog with a quality outlook.
3.McLenahans Shelfpark Parisian Sun JW.

PG 14 (2) 1. My sincere apologies to these exhibitors, regrettably I have no notes owing to a tape malfunction. 1. Morrisons Morvania Funky Monkey
2. Scott's Chantique Scooby Doo
3. Hornes Prince of Egypt

LD 9 (2) 1. Philpins Maqueeba Italian Dream at Tudorlyn 3yrold almost in his prime, a lovely dog who has many qualities to appreciate, most pleasing well moulded head. Good stop, well filled skull, beautiful dark almond eye giving a soft enquiring expression, standing he has a super outline, good reach of neck set in good shoulders, correct length of body, well bent stifles, moved well, but today would insist on carrying his tail far too gaily, which cost him dearly in the final analysis.
2. Unsteads Atendus Exclusivly Made. Somewhat heavier than the winner and a little shorter in head, but he had a definite stop, flat skull nice eye. But just lacks a little in sweetness in expression, very good ears which he can certainly use, good body, well sprung ribs and good rear angulation, he covered the ground in style, with his tail carried correctly, a pleasing type, with top class presentation.
3. Millign's Carristina Echoes of Gold at Alfsden.

OD. 11 (2) 1. Atmore's Coppi Out of Print At Rantara Merle with the most superb outline, he has exactly the shape in my opinion which befits the standard, he has an excellent head, correctly moulded forface well placed and defined stop, flat skull, super eye and expression ears well placed and used, good neck, well sprung ribs, very good hindquarters and correctly carried tail, he has let himself down somewhat in the past by his reluctance to stride out freely, but today was one of his better going days and received his just reward CC.
2.James Deanjan Del Boy Golden Sable who has always attracted me, perhaps a size smaller than 1 but he has many of the same qualities. Good head type, good stop flat skull, & the most appealing expression, always gives of his best, he is well balanced all through and his coat was well groomed, moved well, a very nice dog.
3. Sewall's Lewarne Teddy Boy

BITCHES

MPB 8 (3) 1. McEntee's Gerian Sunsheen Very promising young lady, very good head, clean stop, well filled skull, very sweet feminine expression coming from her beautiful wellshaped dark eye, I liked her length of neck and carried a good body, in good coat which was beautifully presented moved well, has a future.
2. Miller & Lancaster's Pellismer Sweetheart aptly named another with great appeal, perhaps not quite as forward as 1 but has so many similar virtues, good in head & eye, pleasing expression, super reach of neck on a very sound body, moved with ease, well presented another who will be heard of again.
3. Leverton's Rhodabern Lola.

PB 9 (1) McEntee's Gerian Sunprincess
Very forward sable in excellent coat, which was presented to perfection, another similar in type to the MP winner she has a lovely moulded head, well placed stop, good ears, which she can use, very dark correctly shaped eye giving a melting expression, superb shape, moved well, if just a little close behind, very promising puppy.
2. House's Lassina Libre Esprit Shaded sable a size bigger than winner, very good outline, good body & bone, pleasing hindquarters, moved quite well and she excelled in presentation I would prefer her to have a better definition in stop, pleasant expression.
3. Masons Glenspey Highland Charm.

JB 15 (1) 1. Graingers Shasam Sex Symbol at Samhaven Top quality bitch has almost everything one could ask for. Beautiful head, well placed stop, super eye & expression, showed non-stop, very good neck and correct body length, well bent stifle, moved soundly with correct tail carriage. Superb presentation.
2. Humphrey's Shasam Sexcuse Me Litter sister to winner. Almost identical, quite an outstanding pair and a great credit to their breeder, I was splitting hairs to decide the placings, but on the day the winner had the better tail carriage, no doubt will change places often, her presentation was absolutely immaculate.
3. Beaden & Duffields Myriehewe Sophisticat.

NB 7 1. Myriehewe Sophisticat Tri which has rich dark tan markings moved up from reserve place in puppy, nice type in excellent coat & condition pleasing head pattern, showed well sound mover and well groomed.
2. Pellismer Sweetheart
3. Milligans Neneland Natural Spirit at Alfsden.

GB 3 (1) 1. Bedford's Sachenda Strawberry Rose JW Another bitch of the highest quality, has nearly all the breed essentials. Stood and showed off her excellent make & shape, very good in head, eye & expression, she is beautifully proportioned, and moved as one would expect from her conformation,
She just lacked a little finish in coat & furnishings but this will come with time, when she will be ready to take top honours, another one with not a hair out of place.
2. Evans Carrastina Dawn Mascarade Nice honest type of bitch, who today was overshadowed by the winner, pleasing in head, good outline, but I felt she was rather overweight, which affected her movement to some degree, well put down.

PGB. (7) Beaden & Duffields Myriehewe Imagine the most lovely coloured Blue Merle, today not in top coat but this only allowed one to see her pleasing outline, good in head. Correct stop very appealing
Expression showed quite well, and her movement is a joy to see covering the ground effortlessly in full coat, will be a force to be reckoned with.
2. Jeyes Silvermoor Sweet Pepper at Brihow. A bitch of somewhat heavier type than the winner, and I would prefer more refinement in head, but she has quality in her make & shape, moved soundly & showed well.
3. Simmons Trenley Tri Me Out.

LB 20 (4) This was without doubt the class of the day, and many I really liked went unrewarded.
1. Harris's Carriswillow Legacy in my view quite a stunning Bitch , had everything one could hope to find when judging the breed, quality head, correct stop, flat skull, beautifully placed and shaped dark eye giving the expression that is such an integral part of the Collie's appeal, she has a good length of neck and a correctly proportioned body, excellent hindquarters, & moved with great freedom, shown in wonderful coat and condition, showed non stop, beautifully presented. CC & B.O.B.
2. McEntee's Gerian Sunbonnet another one right out of the top draw beautiful g/s, turned out to perfection, balanced head. flat skull, super eye & expression, did everything her handler required excelled in outline, good hindquarters with well turned stifle and short hocks, allowing her to move with great ease.ResCC.
3. Golds Lositana Rosie Prospect. JW

OB 8 (2) 1. Simmons Trenley Teaser Really pleasing sable. Good head well moulded forface, well placed stop, nice dark eye, showing her ears well. All combined to give the real Collie expression, attractive outline, excellent body & bone, and she moved very soundly.
2. Margetts Collingvale Cornflake, this one is an old favourite of mine, pale g/s, she still retains her virtues with her lovely soft expression, good in head, showed very well and moved with purpose, one whom I feel has been unlucky to miss out on her title as she is an excellent bitch of high quality.
3. Hall's Lynmead Trace of Lace at Sambreeze.

VB 4. 1. Unsteads Atendus Maid of Freckles A most striking 9yr old merle of the most glorious colour
shown in superb coat & condition with all the glamour and featherings, a great credit to her owners, presented to perfection, she retains all the quality of a top class bitch. With lovely head & expression showing non stop; she has all the ring presence to take the eye & her movement was a joy to watch a great ambassador for the breed.
2. Ames Trenley Treasure of Vorda 7yrold, very nice type of bitch, retaining her head qualities showing well and sound on the move, she presented a good outline, but lost out to the youthful glamour of the winner.
3. Hutchinsons Karabuni Chickadee
