SCOTTISH BREEDS Canine Club 2005-04-07 Championship show.
ROUGH COLLIES

Enjoyable
day judging a quality entry, quite a few of the dogs did not
respond easily showing, owing to the acoustics to their sensitive
ears, I feel the breed has improved considerably in movement
and tail carriage, and there were several exhibits which quite
inspired me, and will no doubt go on to greater things.
DOGS
MPD. (3) 1. Hartley's
Roanburn Copper Oak. Baby 6mnths and 2days,
showing himself with every confidence, very well developed for
his age, strong bone, ex rib, and lovely long tail, his head
was good for such a youngster, without any lumps and bumps,
lovely eye and expression, neat well placed ears and coped with
the noise very well, obviously being such a baby needs to firm
up, most promising.
2. McCann's Zolkhan Prime Suspect
pale g/s very well constructed being slightly longer in back
than 1, with good neck & shoulder, depth of rib, god bone
and turn of stifle, close fitting coat, his movement was so
sound both in front and behind, he has a well moulded head,
for his age slightly heavier than the 1, good ears, just rather
full in eye.
3. Best's Trixwood Glen of Tranquilty
PD. (5) 1.Loader's Redola
Wild Affair10mnths g/s took my eye immediately, excellent
overall conformation and body lines, good depth and spring of
rib, well bent stifle and short hocks, vg.bone, neat feet, and
a very s9und moving dog. His head is moulded with flat skull,
just enough stop & well filled forface and correctly placed
eye giving a beautiful expression, I would like to see more
underjaw, and felt if he had been handled on a loose lead this
could have enhanced the picture even further, as the lead was
placed directly behind his ears and this prevented his natural
ear carriage and gave the appearance of them being wide set,
he was beautifully presented and used his ample neck to present
a good overall profile. BPIB.
2. Hawkins Brilyn Fools Gold
another very nice puppy with correct length of body, good backline,
legs & feet, turn of stifle and moving especially well.
I liked his moulded head with well filled forface, correct stop,
and one of the few with a well filled flat skull, well placed
eye giving a sweet expression, he seemed unable to settle owing
to the echoing noises, and took his time to recover his composure,
just at at the time of placing, I think this boy has quite a
lot to offer and will be an interesting prospect for the future
when he is mature.
3.Fryer-Clark, Stanley & Evans Vonarkle Eyecatcher
JD. (4) 1. Maxwell
& Robinson's Aintshe Indiana Jones 13mnths
s/w, this youngster made an instant impact, I feel he is one
of the most promising male youngsters I have seen for some time,
he is truly beautiful and possessed all the desired essentials
for his age, his profile is outstanding, he was beautifully
presented, carrying a good coat, excellent hindquarters, with
good turn of stifle and short hocks, his head is quite superb
and clean, moulded forface and parallel planes with correct
stop, and eyes correctly set giving the most exquisite expression,
he extended well in front, although initially I was a little
doubtful about his hind action, appearing to move quite close,
I was not sure if it was the excess hair on his hocks, however,
in the challenge moved much more positively considered that
despite being just out of puppy, he was worthy of the reserve
CC.
2.Forrest's Eskmuir Ace of Elegance
Big upstanding male, good length of body, nice type of head,
with moulding in forface. Good stop, well placed eye, pleasant
expression, good ears and showed himself well, I would prefer
him with better hind action.
3Reid Ronansprey Robert De Niro
ND. (1) Aintshe
Indiana Jones
PGD 10 (1) 1. Fort's
Danfrebeck Dream Maker for Shulune when I looked
down the line, my thoughts were such, "I hope this boy
is as good as he looks on handling"! I was not disappointed,
his construction is ideal, with super reach of neck, set in
good shoulders, straight front, and good hindquarters, he was
shown in good coat which was beautifully presented, he possessed
a lovely head, with moulded forface, correctly placed stop,
lovely eye & expression which won me over, he moved with
drive and had most of the essentials, my only criticism, I would
have just preferred his ears to be a little tighter, and I would
like him bigger, nevertheless he is a lovely dog who will no
doubt will be heard of often in the future.
2. Macrae's Benuasal Drummer Boy
This golden sable was very nice to handle having a clean head,
moulded forface, good stop, well placed eye and good ears, correct
length of body, and goodhindquarters, I would just prefer a
little more neck in profile.
3. Brooks Geosamka Royal Rock
LD. 8 (1) 1.Bedfords
Sachenda Stand 'N'Deliver Upstanding Masculine
sable, with good body length, level back, depth of rib shown
in good coat, and moved well, I love his head, masculine but
having sweetness in expression, well filled forface, flat skull,
correct stop, and the most lovely dark well placed eye, his
temperament is such that he was so non chalont, and laid back
about the whole experience, that he appeared disinterested,
however, he eventually responded by showing his ears sufficiently
for a competitors bait, which transformed his whole appearance,
I would like to see him with a little more reach of neck, and
more animation, and then could trouble the best
2. Fryer Clark, Stanley & Evans Vonarkle
Super Trouper This young man by contrast was entirely
on his toes, rich red s/w, beautifully presented, with sparkling
white bib, he has a refined head with moulded forface, correct
stop, and good eye and expression & neat well placed ears,
on handling I feel he requires more filling in side &back
skull and would like him a little bigger, having said that he
moved well, and of his type could be a very useful dog. Well
handled
3.Scotts Calousco Carnival King
OD 9 (1) 1. Skyrme's
Emryks Boyzone a dog I have only seen occasionally
from the ringside, but he is a male who registered for his masculinity
and presence, he looked majestic in wonderful coat & condition,
a dog who obviously in.his prime, he is well developed in all
aspects, with excellent depth & spring of rib, well rounded
bone, expertly presented with every hair gleaming, he has a
beautiful head and eye and feel he resembles his father whom
I had the pleasure of making up several years ago, he has all
the similar attributes, he moved steadily and gave of his best,
unfortunately he could not match the bitch in movement for B.O.B.
but well deserved CC which I believe gives him his crown making
a swift ascent to the upper house.
2. Coulsons Bluechip Spirit in the Sky
I have seen and admired this merle and can appreciate why he
is always placed highly, he is completely balanced throughout,
beautifully presented & expertly handled on a loose lead
without fuss, he projects himself well, with good overall conformation,
excellent reach of neck, level back, good hindquarters, which
enabled him to move so well, he presents a most attractive picture,
lovely moulded head, with correct parallel planes, well placed
eye giving the desired expression, neat ears, which he can use,
he has a slightly shorter head than the junior, which was the
deciding factor for the reserve CC, he will always be considered
for top honours.
3. Ritchie's Scotlyme Your My Man at Aberquarrie.
BITCHES.
MPB 7 1. Cozens Bhyllsacre
Creme Caramel six/half mnths baby what a sweetie! Beautiful
mover for such a baby, just at the right stage of development
for her age, excellent conformation, good head with parallel
planes, she has a well filled forface, good underjaw and lipline,
just the correct stop, well placed eye giving a sweet expression,
uses her ample neck to show herself with confidence, good bone.
Most promising BPB..
2. Randall's Ladnar Maid Sweet
a most striking merle of almost 7mnths having the most beautiful
nuance of colour, she is quite well grown for her age, she has
a superb neck & shoulder, well constructed, and presented
a good overall profile, she is much bigger and more developed
than 1, lovely head. With beautiful dark eyes giving the loveliest
of expression, he ears are perhaps a little wide at the moment,
but this is no detriment at her age.
3. Best's Trixwood Gurrabb Two.
PB 8 1. Skyrme's Emryks
All that Love On first assessment I did not think this
bitch would win the class until I found hr to be so very nice
on handling, I see she is sired by my D.CC winner, and is a
similar feminine version, having the same moulding in forface
and flat well filled skull, well placed eyes and pleasant expression,
I would like to see her ears a little lighter, but she used
herself well, good body and bone, moved especially well.
2. Loader's Redola Kiss'N'Cherish
and this was the one whom I thought would be my winner, as I
loved her classic outline, I see she is litter sister to the
BPD winner, she has the same body profile and moved so soundly,
she has a flat skull, correct stop, but lacking underjaw, unfotunately
she seemed affected by the noise and had protruding veins which
spoiled her expression somewhat, in different circumstances
can be well to the fore.
3. McGowan's Roughbrigg Raz Girl
JB 5 1. Mc Dowells
Mallicot Crazy in Love at Bykmere the first
two bitches in this class caused me quite a dilemma I placed
them as such as Crazy in Love is a quality bitch so very feminine
and was in first class condition she never put a foot wrong,
showed herself all the time and presented a good overall profile,
good neck & shoulder, vg body, she possessed a most lovely
head with a well filled skull, very sweet eye and expression,
beautifully placed ears, very well handled and presented and
moved with purpose, her youth and freshness inspired me to award
her the Reserve CC against some top quality exhibits.
2. Hartley's Geosamka sugar Babe by Roanburn
This young lady I have admired so often, and feel she is of
certificate quality, she appealed the most in head eye &
expression, and I consider her so very lovely, I was disappointed
to have to see she was losing her coat, especially behind her
collar which spoiled her overall topline, she moved out well,
and would dearly have loved to have placed her higher, a quality
bitch with all the essentials to take her further; who should,
with reasonable luck go on to the upper house, unfortunate to
meet the 1st in such splendid form.
3. McGowans Roughbrigg Raz Girl
NB 8 1. Bhyllsacre Creme Caramel
2. Emryks all That Love
3. Roughbrigg Raz Girl
PGB 11 (5) 1. Loaders Redola
Cherish The Dream Elegant, again from this kennel the
same beautiful outline, and I see she is the dam of theBPIB
and Kiss 'N' Cherish. It is obvious that her genes have influenced
her offspring, as the same virtues and minor faults were apparent,
and the same remarks apply to each exhibit, as they are all
so very similar, I feel this kennel has some very nice Collies
who should get unlimited recognition for their quality exhibits,
all were in excellent condition with superb outline, and beautifully
presented.
2. Smitz Aintshe Feather Duster
at Levenbank this 2yr old tri is a very sweet bitch, unfortunately
not in her best coat today, showing rust overtones and lacking
bloom, however, she is most feminine and I like her head, &
eye and expression, and overall make and shape, I see she is
sired by the PG winner, therefore it was not surprising I appreciated
her type, she appeared to splay her feet and was not confident
with the floor surface when moving, in full bloom will be heard
of again
3.ThompsonsLomondvale Golden Dream
LB 7 1. Johnstone &
Buchanan's Geosamka Just a Babe in full bloom,
and super co
ndition moved with drive, so very sound, she has a most lovely
head, when the lead was dropped for me to assess her , I would.have
preferred her to have been shown on a loose lead rather than
strung up which gave her head the appearance of being much shorter
than it was, owing to the profuse amount of hair being brought
forward behind her ears by the lead, she has lovely moulding
in head, with good stop, well placed eyes giving a sweet expression,
well developed body with good turn of stifle and short hocks,
one who has gradually progressed to the higher classes on her
merits.
2. Shutts Tapena Taffeta I like
Taffeta very much g/s so feminine in outlook most beautiful
head eye & expression and neat well placed ears, good outline,
vg hindquarters and shown in full bloom, moved well in front,
I was doubtful about hr hind action going away, as there was
a profuse amount of hair left on her hocks, which may or may
not have made her hind action appear very close, both the first
and this bitch were of equal merit, but the especially sound
movement of Just a Babe was the deciding factor.
3. Hendersons's Marchelle Mystical Illusion
OB 13 (5) 1. Bedford's Sachenda
Red Red Rosebud Pale g/s whom I have seen progress
and mature into a most lovely feminine ambassador for the breed,
she was in full bloom with immaculate presentation, she has
all the furnishings and glamour to complete the picture, she
has a very nice head, with flat skull, correct stop, well filled
forface and good underjaw, beautiful ears, initially she seemed
affected by the noise, but gained her equilibrium and remain
steady to cooperate with her handler, good bodylines, and super
hindquarters, which confirmed her ability to move with effortless
action round the ring, she is an obvious laster and is now coming
into her own CC & B.O.B.
2. Farrell's Belrah Casual Surprise
Much bigger sable of quality in sparkling form, she has excellent
overall construction, good neck & shoulder, good depth &
spring of rib shown in full bloom, beautiful moulded head, good
stop, lovely eye & expression showed well, and stood up
to the noise & conditions moved out a pity she had to meet
1 in such splendid form.

Ballyhanna
